KIDS ON THE MOVE, CYCLING FOR HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT...

kids on the go

KIGO has the general objective of fostering, encouraging and spreading healthy lifestyles among kids, through the constant and daily practice of basic sports, following the recommendations of the WHO which, together with the European Commission, have launched an alarm and a monitor against childhood obesity and sedentary lifestyles.

The lack of physical activity among kids, be easily remedied through active modes of transport, in particular the bicycle, taking advantage of the time necessary to reach the places of study or leisure, for the benefit of health, sociality and the environment. The widespread use of bicycles among kids also represents a stimulus to their personal and social development, as well as to their active participation on issues of sustainability, road rules and respect for rules in general.

The target of KIGO are kids between 11 and 13 years, who represent a critical age group, for their initial search for autonomy, self-esteem building and orientation towards healthy or unhealthy lifestyles.

Starting from these assumptions, KIGO sets itself the following specific objectives:

Encourage children to use the bicycle every day as a means of sustainable transport, entertainment and socialization.

Create a European network for the exchange of good practices among the Consortium partners, in order to develop a physical-didactic toolkit that can be replicated at European level.
